Dr. Laura Downie graduated from Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine.  Upon graduation, she was selected for a prestigious small animal internship at Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus, New Jersey. Her focus was on internal medicine, surgery, and emergency medicine.  Following the internship, she practiced for seven years at Westside Veterinary Center, located on the Upper West Side of New York City. In New York City, Dr Downie became known as a feline medical expert.  In 2009, Dr. Downie and family decided to return to her native Littleton, Colorado.  In her free time, she enjoys tennis, snowboarding, spending time with her family (2 young children) and volunteering at the Humane Society of the South Platte Valley in Littleton.  Her pet family consists of 3 cats (Mittens, Melanie and Mr Man) and 2 dogs (Heidi and Sparkles).  Dr. Downie’s goal during each and every veterinary visit is to get to know you and your pet and to prevent medical problems before they happen.  She strives to find a diagnostic and therapeutic plan that is right for you and your pet and your budget.  Some of her areas of expertise include: dentistry, internal medicine, geriatric feline medicine, nutrition, and managing chronic ear infections. Dr Downie is an active member of the Veterinary Information Network, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Association of Feline Practicioners.

Snowbell.jpg

My name is Snowbell, but you may hear my friends calling me "Snow". I am a 13 year old, long-haired (I’m sure you can tell that from the picture) diabetic cat. I lived most of my life with an elderly lady, when she passed away I found myself at the Humane Society of the South Platte Valley in Littleton. There, I lived for 6 months. Lots of people liked me, but no one could commit to my twice daily insulin shots. Finally, Dr. Downie (who used to work part-time at the humane society) decided to take me in. I consider myself one of the most important staff members at Redstone. I greet clients, keep crazy dogs in their place, and comfort people when they need it. Next time you’re at Redstone, be sure to say hi! You can probably find me on Nicole’s desk. Even though I look like I’m just lounging, I’m deep in thought and working hard. I need a raise!
